Keep Your Eyes On The Road

Recently, I’ve discovered one of Jaimie’s secret talents that, I think, not too many people know about. While I’m fully aware the closer a couple gets to marriage, (and even after being married) the more you uncover about each other. However, I’m not entirely sure how I should react to this one.

Jaimie has a unique talent of stopping people dead in their tracks when she walks by. By that I mean, she causes other males to enter a coma like state, lose control of whatever they were doing and drool as she walks by. This isn’t just a one-time observation either. I’ve carefully charted several instances of this happening and have come to the conclusion that while I’m around Jaimie, my chances (as well as others) of being involved in an accident significantly increases. see fig. 1.1 Here are just a few of my carefully recorded observations:

Over the course of our relationship, I noticed an increase in cars swerving into our lane while driving when they get a glimpse of Jaimie in the passenger seat. Earlier today in fact, as Jaimie walked over to apply for her new job, she halted the construction of a building on BYU campus while the Mexican workers stopped and stared as she floated by. Yet the danger doesn’t stop at physical harm only; but extends into the financial aspect of life as well. Last night, for example, we quickly stopped by Target to pick up some thank you cards. As we went to pay, our poor young cashier as well was mesmerized by Jaimie. I almost had to reach over the counter and ring up the sale myself.

As the reports clearly show and due to my recent discovery, I’ve taken the necessary precautions and invested in a bike helmet, shoulder, arm and knee pads and a nice pair of double thick safety glasses. It’s not easy being forced to deal with life threatening situations on a daily basis, but somebody certainly has to do it. Plus, I really don’t mind being the lucky guy who gets to be transfixed by her every day. All I know is that I’ll be asking for double the “protection” blessings in my nightly prayers!

I will be the first to admit that BYU singles wards can be extremely ridiculous, and that I really haven't enjoyed any of the wards I have been in since I came to BYU. So after moving into a new apartment once winter semester was over, I was expecting my ward to be the same as usual and perhaps even harder to enjoy since church is held at the testing center at 8:30 in the morning, but I love my ward. Everyone has been so genuine and sincere and the spirit is always so strong. I realize that enjoying church and feeling the spirit has a lot to do with my own attitude, but something about this ward has made that so much easier for me. I think when I was younger I enjoyed church because I always had lots of friends in the ward and got to be in the same classes with them and talk, but I actually look forward to going to church now because I need that spiritual upliftment that comes from partaking of the sacrament and having lessons about the gospel every week. It really is the best way to look back on the past week and figure out how I can be better and draw nearer to my Savior. I love it. I love how I feel after church and the renewed desire I feel to become better. I love the gospel, it's great!

Meet my bike, her name is Jaimie...

Sean and I were out riding bikes the other day when out of nowhere my bike just flipped out on me and was switching gears without me even messing with it. I told Sean that it was randomly switching gears on me and he just brushed it off and said it was fine. As it kept happening I was getting frustrated with it and made Sean watch and listen as it was happening. Laughing, he told me nothing weird was going on, but little did I know I had bought a bike that could interpret my needs for me and change gears accordingly. As we were nearing the end of the bike ride Sean was getting more and more amused with the situation as I was getting more and more annoyed. It was then that Sean came up with a ridiculous comparison, he said my bike was feisty just like me! Who knew I could compared to a bike?!

So there you have it...if I was a bike, this is what I would look like.

Alright, so the last post was a little dramatic...

For me, the 4th of July must include three things:
1. Swimming
2. Mom's brownies
3. Fireworks

and it turns out I got all three!

We started out the day with a nice float down the Provo river with some of Sean's friends. Don't even worry, it was freezing, beyond freezing...but after a while it kinda started to feel really nice. We got nice sun burns and my legs are peeling now...two weeks later?! So this is a picture of us trying to squeeze onto my tube because Sean didn't have one and we thought we could just both use mine. Luckily someone had an extra one that he borrowed, I don't think we would have made it down otherwise.

This is mostly for the fam...yes I can bake and yes I can make food actually look presentable! I look sick nasty after not getting to shower after the tubing adventure, but that's beside the point.
Here we are sitting right outside of the stadium right before the fire works started. We walked over from my apartment and found a nice spot in a parking lot...on the asphalt...and I'm not going to lie, we had the best seats of everyone. The fireworks were right in our faces and I absolutely loved it, I just love fireworks.
I wish the pictures could do them justice! They were awesome!

i...miss...my family

I think there is something about the holidays that always makes me miss my family, even a smaller one like the 4th of July. It's hard to be here in Utah thinking about all the fun I am missing. This year they are headed to Uncle Joe and Aunt Christie's cabin in Heber, AZ and I am so jealous! I also know I am missing out on my mom's famous 4th of July brownies, which is a total bummer. I am going to try and recreate them myself, but it's always better when Mom makes them...that's just a fact of life.
